How will you make an impact?

Inspects, audits safety procedures, reports on safety issues and makes recommendations for safety improvements by performing the following duties for SSI Fire and Safety Holding Co. which oversees the work at State Systems in Memphis and its branch offices and Integrity Fire Safety Services based in Denver, Colorado.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Visits job sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials.

· Conducts comprehensive inspections to ensure safe work practices are used.

· Evaluate, assess, and make recommendations for altering safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees and customers.

· Reports inspection results to State Systems and Integrity Fire management and informs management of conditions requiring correction.

· Maintain 3rd party vendor safety reporting.

· Analyze accident/injury reports. Makes recommendations for correction and performance improvement.

· Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees.

· Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.).

· Completes self-inspection checklist on all branches.

· Research environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance.

· Track safety metrics and apply findings.

· Oversee the applications for and receipt of necessary permits.

· Travels to branch offices to perform safety responsibilities.

· Other duties may be assigned.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 

Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards with regard to construction, CHST Certification preferred, Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Good work quality.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This job will require about 25% regional travel by car and plane.
